1. Co-instructor of and co-author of materials used in a series of mini-courses (32 hours each) in interpretation taught more than 50 times around the state of Florida since 2001, a program delivered for bilingual state employees working with refugees under a continuing grant program;

2. Have established two certificate programs in Portuguese Translation and Interpretation at FIU, course sequence started in 1999;

3. Have presented six academic papers on T/I:

4. Established (in 1987) and still direct the FIU Translation/Interpretation Auxiliary Services. This organization helps provide T/I services to the FIU University community, maintaining and operating audio and video equipment for conference interpretation and contracting interpreters for university‑sponsored events, as needed.

5. Oversaw (as department chairperson) the establishment of a T/I Spanish academic program at FIU in the early 1980's.

6. Principal Investigator on a federal grant (approximately $200,000) to help bolster T/I instruction at FIU, from 1983 to 1987 (grant also helped to establish a graduate program in linguistics). Allowed founding of a T/I laboratory with computer‑aided translation systems and advanced wireless simultaneous interpretation technology.

7. Co-instructor of a week-long interpretation course for Miami INS employees (1990)

8. Consult with FIU instructors of Spanish translation and interpretation,

providing equipment demonstrations in class.

9. Regularly teach interpretation courses at FIU, both general and

simultaneous
